Jim Marshall, Creator of Rock n Roll Amplifiers dies at 88 - Innovator of the guitar amplifiers, Jim Marshall has died at the age of 88. He was dubbed 'Father of the Loud' for creating world class amplifiers that were used by rock n roll giants worldwide. According to his son, Jim Marshall developed cancer in late 2011 after suffering from several strokes in recent years.
